There are no words to describe La Scuola Guesthouse Lusiana. Or maybe yes. What is certain is that this old school from the 1920s in a small Veneto village has been transformed by Valeria and Marco into a themed Bed & Breakfast, thanks to a conservative restoration.
The little ones have fun with vintage didactic tables, geographical maps and colored markers. The older ones become children again thanks to emotions and memories, a hint of melancholy and an XXL dose of magic.
To welcome a black board in giant format. And original cement tiles: gray, red and black. Homemade muffins, 0 km yogurt, asiago from the Pennar dairy and local cold cuts make waking up even more pleasant. The names of the rooms? History and Literature, Science, Arithmetic, Geography and the Teacher's Room.
Valeria takes care of La Scuola Guesthouse Lusiana full time, from the preparation of breakfast to communication activities. Marco, her husband, helps her on weekends and in marketing activities. I asked Valeria to tell me something more.
Marco and I have always worked in the tourism sector: online promotion, websites, communication in general. Our dream was to go to the other side of the stage, to the front! After a series of trips to France, the craving became irresistible. So we started idly looking for a beautiful building, in the hilly areas of the Veneto. One day we went down from Asiago towards Marostica and the bell tower with a spectacular view behind it made us stop the car. Behind it was the old school with a nice sign: "for sale". We entered the courtyard, looked at each other for a moment, and called the real estate agency.
The building was born as a school in the early 1920s. A solid structure, with typical high ceilings and hexagonal cement tiles. The school remained in operation until the 1960s.
In the attic, which served as a wood storage for the stove, there are romantic secrets that today come to life in the two double bedrooms: Geography and the Teacher's Room.
I would rather use three nouns, the 3 emotions it arouses: surprise, enchantment and nostalgia.
Definitely vintage and romantic, but with joy and lots of color! During the restoration, everything possible of the structural parts was recovered: floors, windows, roof beams, tiles, stairs and doors. Even the walls were not plastered, just cleaned and repainted. The external color is the original one, only refreshed. The 'Municipal School' inscription on the facade was restored by a local specialist with the "dusting" technique. The furniture was purchased from second-hand dealers, antique shop and in the Venetian markets. Some pieces are new but always inspired by the school, like the French chairs by Les Gambettes.
We are very active on social networks and we invest a lot on our website with targeted campaigns because we care about direct sales: more sustainable, without commissions and without filters. This is why we are not on booking.com and other Online Travel Agencys where communication is flat, aggressive and unmanageable.
Create something special and make a difference with careful and personalized management. Put your face to it and commit yourself to everything: in the style of the B&B, in management and communicatiom.
