That of the Grotte della Civita is a recovery and rehabilitation project to bring the Sassi of Matera back to life. Populated from prehistoric times to the early 1950s, the tuff caves have now become a widespread hotel of incredible charm. The simple materials and the soft light of the candles invite you to relax.
The 18 suites are located between via Civita and via Conservatorio, in the Sasso Barisano, one of the two ancient districts of the historic center of Matera. Each room, some of considerable size, is equipped with a bathtub. Breakfast is served outdoors or in the deconsecrated rock church.
In free time? You can hang out in the Sassi. Or book a nice bike ride in the Murgia Park. And again: cooking lessons and Ayurvedic massages.
