Ca ’Alfieri al 30 is a charming Bed & Breakfast in Govone in the Roero hills, between Langhe and Monferrato, born from a dream of Fulvia and Bruno:" Change life, and find time for small things ". Imagine the elegance of an ancient country house, with frescoed vaulted ceilings, surrounded by a landscape of fruit trees and centuries-old vineyards. An Italian garden with a large tree of the magnolias family in the center. Up there, on top of the hill, the Royal Castle of Govone, a medieval stronghold rebuilt in the eighteenth century and a former Savoy residence, protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
Bruno, engineer from Cuneo, used to work in computer science and business consultancy. Fulvia, from Lake Como, a life in tourism between large hotels and catering. "When we first saw Ca 'Alfieri at 30, in spring 2007, the house had a decadent charm. From the abandoned rooms, however, the charm of an old lady exuded, asking only to be courted, to return to the glories of the past "tell the owners of Ca 'Alfieri at 30.
Piedmontese antique sideboards and marble fireplaces mix with French fabrics and furniture. "These references to France are linked to the Royal Castle of Govone, the former Savoy residence, and to our travels in Provence". Guests are welcomed by a Pompeian red lounge with a herringbone wooden floor.
Frescoed ceilings, cement tiles, toile de jouy, bathtubs and linen coming out of the grandmother's trunks. The names of the rooms are a tribute to the ancient Savoy royal family and its princesses: Matilde, Mafalda, Margherita and Carlotta. For the most romantic, Adelaide and Jolanda: the two attics with exposed beams. For breakfast, homemade cakes and marmalades. And then cheeses from the Alta Langa and seasonal fruit.
In the evening you can sip a glass of grappa in front of the walnut fireplace. In the kitchen the old marble sink is sublime. And then the Piedmontese sideboard, the wooden table with marble top (where the tajarin pasta was once prepared) and the plate rack.
The terraces have a breathtaking view that ranges from the hills of Roero to those of Langa. On clear days you can see the peaks of the Maritime Alps: Argentera, Corno Stella ... The old woodshed has been transformed into a relaxation area with sauna. And then there is the swimming pool among the vineyards with salt water.
