A Casa das Janelas com vista

For people who love other kind of luxury without opulence but full of exclusive details

Three years ago, Carmen Rendé and Natalia Tubella, two Catalan entrepreneurs, bought the abandoned building of the Bairro Alto in Lisbon, formerly workshop basketry. Respecting the old structure, they transformed the building in a guest house where travelers can feel at home.

A Casa das Janelas com vista is an upmarket Bed&Breakfast (b&b charme). The yellow iron table, the hand-painted wardrobe, the velvet chaise longue, and the old armchair: each 12 rooms has a different layout and decoration.

The kitchen is an open, informal place and a meeting point in which to start the day around a large table. And for breakfast? From cereals, fruits, yogurts, fresh orange juice and croissants to cheese, jams, typical cakes and scrambled eggs. There is also a free gluten section (bread, cakes and cereals). Try the “requeijão”, the portuguese soft white cheese made from the curds of skim milk.

Canned fish from “Cego do Maio”, soaps from “Ach.Brito”; blankets 100% pure wool from “Burel” and liquors from “Setúbal”: a Casa das Janelas com vista has also a corner shop where you can buy products made in Portugal.
