Bringing the colours, flavors and traditions of Provence back into the walls of the house and, at the same time, adding a modern touch. This is what happened to Cl\u00e9ment and his wife when they decided to buy an 18th century Provencal \u201cmaison de ma\u00eetre\u201d. \u00abMy wife and I are both from Provence. We have traveled a lot with our daughter. I work remotely as a creative director for a technology company in the US and my wife is a school teacher. After having lived in different corners of France and the world (Geneva, London and Salt Lake City), we fell in love with this building full of charm. Apt is ideal for exploring the Luberon and its many villages, each more beautiful than the next \u00bb, Cl\u00e9ment tells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The large house, which in the past belonged to a bourgeois family of confectioners (Apt is famous for confectionery), has been divided into several apartments (the owners' house and 4 holiday homes: Puget, Giono, Pagnol and C\u00e9zanne). During the renovation works, the original heights, floors and spaces were maintained. \u00abThe former owners were antique dealers from Lourmarin and they had already done a remarkable job in term of renovations. However, upon arriving in the building, we had the desire to add our personal touch. We are both passionate about decoration\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the original old floor tiles, furnishings unearthed in the area's antique markets were placed, such as the early 20th century sofa bought at a flea market in Lourmarin. The antique furnishings are combined with contemporary and accessories, such as the cushions by Harmony, the curtains by Bouchara and the chandeliers by Honor\u00e9 made by hand in Marseille. \u00abWe are lucky to be surrounded by passionate craftsmen\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natural linen curtains wrap around each room, framing the view on rooftops of the city of Apt and its famous Cathedral Saint-Anne. It is possible to benefit from the same view from the garden with its swimming pool and the bucolic fountain dating from the 19th century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
